What we collect

Only what a letter needs:

• Your name and email address
• Three addresses: your current mailing address, your landlord's mailing address, and the rental address
• Your landlord's name
• The dates and dollar amounts you enter, and your answers to the screening questions

We do not collect phone numbers, dates of birth, ID numbers or file uploads.

If you join a waitlist or ask for a reminder, we keep your email, the state or place, and for a reminder, your answers so far.

Why we collect it

To build your letter, email it to you, mail it if you order Certified Mail, send you status updates, and send the reminders you ask for. We count anonymous page and funnel events to understand how the site is used. Those counts do not include your name, address, email or letter contents.

Who processes it

We use these service providers, and only for running the service:

• Supabase (database and sign in)
• Stripe (payments)
• Lob (printing, mailing and address checks)
• Resend (email)
• Vercel (hosting and anonymous analytics)

We never sell or share your personal data.

How long we keep it

We delete your answers, names, addresses and the letter text 90 days after delivery for mailed letters, 90 days after the order if a letter was never delivered, and 90 days after creation for free letters. Reminder answers are deleted after 90 days.

We keep your email address, the state or city, the letter type, the screening outcome, dates and times, order and payment references, the tracking number, your answer to our follow up question, and the campaign tags from the link you arrived by.

Deleting your data sooner

Email support@givemydepositback.com from the address you used and we will delete your letter data.
